The pressurized structures of fire-box walls, separators, cyclones, fuel ports, starter burners, etc. of modern multi-fuel power-plant boilers (CFB and BFB) are protected against wear by a very hard fireproof coating that has a thickness of 50 to 150 mm.
Sometimes this extremely hard coating has to be removed during maintenance and repair work. UHP hydro demolition is practically the only efficient and safe way to remove the coating without causing damage to the pressure structure. The coating can be removed efficiently and quickly using 2800-3000 bar of pressure and dedicated hydrodynamic tools with no damage to the surface of the boiler or intact firewalls.
